Do not organize your community

Support its needs when they emerge. It is really hard to envision what a community will be like / will need. But it is easy to see what it IS like and what it needs RIGHT NOW.

We found that approach much more rewarding and effective.

And while you need to be part of you community you do not need to be leading it. It is much better to leave that to members that are better at it anyway :)

This assumes that there is somebody in the community who can take this part. It should work fine for great communities with lot's of envolvement. But what if your players just don't care or there are simply not enough to organize on their own?

good points.. but if that is true there might be even less reasons to "organize" as there are not enough incentives for a community to form in the first place?

How to get critical mass is a whole different problem :)
